Preparing For Your Career

I conduct approximately 100 interviews per year of recent college graduates with computer science or technology focused degrees. Over the last 5 years of conducting these interviews, many of the graduates have expressed an attitude of “if I get the degree the jobs will come” and a work ethic of “I completed all my assignments” and nothing beyond. The high demand for science, technology and math degrees (STEM) are well publicized, but there is also a lot of competition. The competition consists of other recent graduates, experienced people looking for new opportunities and international workers vying for opportunities so they can maintain their visa status and stay in the country. Unfortunately, I see too many students waiting until they get their diploma to start preparing to find a job and start their career. So, I have put together an infographic/poster to give juniors and seniors ideas of how they can help jump start their career and set themselves apart from the competition.
